Due to the important and vital role played by information and data to ensure proper planning which will certainly lead to achieve the sustainable development, and to cope with the revolutionary information age, and in response to the sublime directives of the supreme leadership of the United Arab Emirates to give priority to information, the Ministry of Environment and Water in cooperation with the international centre for Agricultural Information (WAICENT) which is dependant to the World Food Organization of the United Nations (FAO) established specialized and comprehensive centre for Enviromental and agricultural information (UAEAGRICENTt) to be one of the most important resources in Environment and Agriculture information. UAEAgricent conducts the documentation of all environmental and agricultural information including Research, studies annual seasonal and monthly reports of plant, animal, fisheries, water and soil sectors and the statistics of agricultural sector as well which contains production, agricultural areas, services, trade exchange in imported, exported and re-exported agricultural commodities, averages and values of agricultural production and numerous of agricultural, economic and statistical indicators which are rapidly developing. Information include also the legislations and laws organizing agricultural, animal wealth and fisheries affairs.

The activities of (UAEAgricent) reflects the quick interaction of the Ministry of Environment and Water with the latest environmental and agricultural developments in the world to be logged on to the website.

UAEAgricent acts for providing the users either researchers, students, analysts, establishments and institutions with environmental and agricultural information therefore, it will be considered as reference for environmental and agricultural information which will sustain the development of studies and research for the progress ofenvironmental and agricultural sector.

Objectives of the center:

1. To manage and develop agricultural systems according to international systems.
2. To create distinguished cadres for dissemination of environmental and agricultural information electronically.
3. Seeking to make the center a reference for environmental and agricultural information in the country and the region as well.

To achieve the above objectives the centre will conduct the following:

Firstly: Information, Documentation and Dissemination:

1. To design and develop the website of the center on internet positively with the future progress in environmental and agricultural information management.
2. Continuous coordination with the ministry various sectors for purpose of documentation of agricultural information in Arabic and English.
3. Exchange information with the international centers and transact to enhance cooperation with these centers.
4. Developing cadres skills in cooperation and coordination with (WACINT).
5. Cooperation and coordination with the official institutions in the country in the field of collection and documentation of environmental and agricultural information.
6. To act for dissemination and distribution of environmental and agricultural information in cooperation with the concerned institutions locally and internationally so as to make the center a reference for environmental and agricultural information in the country.

Secondly: Statistical and Economical Aspects:

• Coordination with agricultural regions regarding collection of farms statistical data and the methods used for collection.
• To set up an automatic system which categories statistical data and train the cadres to deal properly with this system.
• Processing operations of statistical data and issue the annual statistical bulletions and the annual statistical book to be disseminated in the website.
• Adapting the scientific methods and statistical programs in order to extract the statistical indicators as well as categorize the agricultural census data and evaluate the agricultural sampling experiments to calculate production and cost.
• Coordination with the official bodies in the country to proceed with agricultural census.
• Conduct analytic studies for agricultural sector in UAE.
