MOFI Tasks & Responsibility

The Ministry of Finance and Industry is responsible for implementing all fiscal, monetary and industrial policies for the overall economic development of the UAE. It is ably guided by the Minister of Finance and Industry, H. E. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Minister of State for Finance and Industry, H. E. Dr. Mohamed Khalfan bin Khirbash.

Its financial function is to formulate fiscal and Government accounting policies,
prepare the national federal budget and keep all federal accounts. It administers revenue collection, supervises purchases, expenditure control and asset administration. Its industry function includes the preparation and implementation of polices for the development of industries. In addition, it administrates and supervises the industrial intellectual property and patent office.

According to Resolution 137 of July 2000, the UAE Federal Government gave The Ministry of Finance and Industry the responsibility to introduce Total Quality Management in all UAE Ministries. This pioneering effort led to the establishment of the Quality Group. Its vision for the UAE is to provide an example for best practice in governance and the insurance of high quality performance.

Areas of responsibilities:-

Preparation of Federal Government Budget and Closing Accounts
Administration of Budget and Expenditure Control
The Administration of Government Revenue and its Collection
Formulate of Fiscal, Government Accounting Policies as well as entering performance
Supervision and administrate of Government Purchases
Supervision and administrate of Government Assets
Preparation and implementation of industrial development plans
Preparation of industrial specification and standards
Preparation of industrial policies for private sector
Administrate and supervise of industrial intellectual property and patent office
