Areas of responsibilities:

Study the country’s need for growth and development and propose objectives and priorities on the basis of future and current indicators after being endorsed by higher authorities.
Prepare short, medium and long term plans projects and propose necessary policies for their application and follow up their implementation and submit reports thereof to the competent authorities.
Propose and prepare annual budgets for development and follow-up spending procedures thereof in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance & Industry and other designated ministries.  
Carry out central statistical work.  
Prepare economic, social and financial studies necessary for preparing development plans in cooperation with the competent bodies.  
Provide necessary recommendations and means to utilize financial, material and human resources to implement development plans and annual programs and present such recommendations to the competent authorities.  
Any jurisdictions entrusted therein accordance with the laws, regulations and the Cabinet decisions issued towards this effect.
